Pennsylvania Governor
Edward Rendell, University of Pennsylvania President Judith Rodin
and School of Veterinary Medicine Dean Alan M. Kelly will speak this
Friday at the renaming of Penn’s veterinary hospital as the
Matthew J. Ryan Veterinary Hospital of the University of
Pennsylvania.
According to Kelly,
"With [Speaker Ryan’s] passing, the School lost the greatest
friend and most powerful advocate it has ever had in the legislature
in Harrisburg." Throughout
his more than 40 years in the House, Ryan had been a driving force
in securing state funding for the School, enabling it to carry out
its mission of teaching, research and service.
On Feb. 21, the Penn
Board of Trustees approved the renaming of the Veterinary Hospital
of the University of Pennsylvania to the Matthew J. Ryan Veterinary
Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania to honor the speaker of
the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. |
