Application Instructions
The application and all supportive documents must be received by April 3, 2013. There is a complete review of all applications once the deadline passes. After the review, decisions will be made and applicants will be notified by April 17, 2013. An application submission does not guarantee admission as we receive more applications than there are spots available. Applications received after the deadline may be considered on a rolling basis until all spaces have been filled if there are openings after the original review process.
Admissions Decisions
All aspects of the application will be considered however much emphasis will be placed on grades and demonstrated pursuit of veterinary medicine as a career. 
Submission of Required Materials
All required materials must be mailed to the Admissions Office and included in one envelope except high school transcripts which must be sent directly by the high school guidance counselor. Our mailing address is:

Required Documents Submitted in one envelope
- Application must be completed and signed.
- Essay printed on a separate sheet and include your name at the top.
- College transcripts in their original sealed envelopes (high school transcripts mailed separately).
- Resume or curriculum vitae (CV)
- Two (2) evaluations in their original sealed envelopes
- Non-Refundable Application fee of $40

The application can be downloaded here. Print and complete in black or blue ink. Please print. Be certain to sign it. Those under 18 years of age need to have a parent’s/guardian’s signature as well.
Essay
Please write a one-page typed essay and explain why you want to participate in PennVet’s Veterinary Exploration Through Science program (VETS). We want to learn about your interests in science, medicine and veterinary experiences you may have had and why a career in veterinary medicine is a good match for you. Be certain to include your name at the top of the page.
Transcripts
We require college students to submit official transcripts from every institution attended. We require high school transcripts for high school students as well as for students in their first year of college. Mid-year grades are required for high schools students whereas fall grades must be submitted by college students.
Evaluations
Two evaluation letters are required and should be included in the one envelope being mailed to us. The letters should be in their original sealed envelopes from your evaluators. One letter must be written by a science teacher or science faculty, advisor or guidance counselor. The second letter should be written by a veterinarian or someone who can comment on your interest in veterinary medicine.
Application Fee
Please include the $40.00 non-refundable application fee with your application. This may be in the form of a personal check, money order or cashier’s check made payable to the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania. This fee must accompany your application. Applications will not be considered without it.
