Policy for Using Logos and University Shield and Approved University Vendors
Effective January 21, 2013
All merchandise design should reflect the professional nature of our School and Veterinary Medicine.
Use of 9-Animal-head Logo
Only SCAVMA is permitted to use the 9 Animal-head Logo and only with the wording “Penn Student Chapter of SCAVMA”.
Use of “University of Pennsylvania” and General University Logo and/or Shield
Requests to use “University of Pennsylvania” and the general University logo and/or University shield must first be approved by the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, the Director of Communications, and the Office of the University Secretary. Please allow two weeks for the approval process.
Use of Penn Vet and/or University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine
Students are permitted to use the various Vet School logos, however, they may not be altered, this includes altering the colors or the design. This includes:
University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine
Penn Vet or PennVet
Use of the Veterinary Caduceus
The Veterinary Caduceus may be used in any color or format; however, it may be used **only** with the wording, Penn Vet or School of Veterinary Medicine.
Use of “Many Species – One Medicine”
The wording “Many Species – One Medicine” may be used in any color or format; however, it may be used **only** with the wording Penn Vet or School of Veterinary Medicine.
The Process
*All requests regarding the use of any University or Vet School branding/logos must first be approved by the School. All requests are sent to the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs (Ashra Markowitz) who works in conjunction with the Director of Communications.
*The request must include the finished image or illustration as it will appear as well as where it will appear, e.g., “scrubs – on left front pocket with the wording, "PennVet".
* The request must include the vendor you plan to use and must be selected from the University's Approved Vendor List. These are the only vendors that can be used. Please note that Promoversity is the preferred vendor and they will make every effort to match prices of other vendors. We also suggest that *before* you place an order with any approved vendor, you request a sample item. As with all on-line ordering, the appearance of an item may be differ from the actual item.
*If University branding is used, the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs will forward to the University for approval and notify the student if approval is granted.
Additional Information
The use of copyrighted or trademarked logo (i.e., branding standards), of the University of Pennsylvania or the School of Veterinary Medicine in any personal posting on any social networking site is prohibited.
