PA Farm Bureau Honors Richard “Dick” Newpher with Endowed Scholarship at Penn Vet
In honor of Richard Newpher's nearly four decades of service, the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau (PFB) has recently
established the Richard W. Newpher Farm Bureau Endowed Scholarship at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine.
The goal for the endowment is $100,000, which is well on the way to be fully funded with contributions from PFB, the American Farm Bureau Federation and American Agricultural Insurance Company. Once fully funded, Penn Vet will award a $5,000 scholarship each year, in perpetuity, to a student studying large animal medicine.
Newpher recently retired as the executive vice president of the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF), where he led their staff in its implementation of all programs and activities for the organization and served as treasurer of AFBF and its affiliated companies. Prior to that, Newpher served 12 years as the executive director of public policy for AFBF. At PFB, Newpher served as manager of governmental relations, and director of commodity programs, local affairs, political education and national relations. He started his career with PFB as a regional director.
Pennsylvania Farm Bureau is the state’s largest farm organization with a volunteer membership of more than 53,000 farm and rural families, representing farms of every size and commodity across Pennsylvania.
