Controlled transgene expression in a parasitic helminth
A Research Associate position is available immediately to develop approaches for stable transgenesis in an important parasitic trematode, Schistosoma mansoni. Techniques to obtain transient transgene expression in schistosomes are avilable now, but transgene silencing remains a major impediment to the routine use of transgenic parasites to ask biological questions in vivo. Molecular biology skills a and experience in model organisms (e.g. planaria, Ce, Drosophila) a must.
