Residency in Clinical Pathology
The Laboratory of Pathology and Toxicology, at the University of Pennsylvania , School of Veterinary Medicine , invites applications for a three-year residency position in Clinical Pathology, beginning July 1, 2010. This program is designed to prepare the candidate for certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in the specialty of Clinical Pathology.
The individual will train primarily in the Clinical Pathology Laboratory located in the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania on the Philadelphia campus with additional training at the New Bolton Center campus located in Kennett Square, PA. The laboratory processes over 30,000 specimens/year, including almost 7,000 cytologies and bone marrows. Samples are primarily from small companion animals, but also from horses, cattle, and occasional non-mammalian species.
Members of the Clinical Pathology service regularly interact with the Anatomic Pathology, Medicine, and Oncology sections via rounds, seminars, and collaborative research projects.
To be eligible for the program the candidate must have graduated from a college or school of veterinary medicine accredited or approved by the AVMA, or possess a certificate issued by the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates, or be legally qualified to practice veterinary medicine in some state, province, territory or possession of the United States, Canada, or other country.

Stipend
Effective July 1, 2010, the salary for residents is $31,000 per annum, plus benefits and yearly travel stipend.
