General description: 2 to 3-year residency training to qualify for ACLAM boards
Salary: Depends on years of experience, based on NIH - Postdoctoral Fellowship scale
# of Positions Available: 2 per year
Deadlines: We follow the UAP submission dates – typically October 15th annually for following July start date
Prerequisites & conditions of appointment: VMD or DVM from AVMA-recognized institution, eligible for licensure in the state of Pennsylvania
Rounds, seminars, & coursework: Ongoing, every Weds/Thurs
Conferences: Ongoing, every Friday at 11 am
Research Project: Required for residents without significant research experience
Training objectives: Gain experience in all aspects of laboratory animal medicine and care at a major academic biomedical institution. Complete a publishable project under the mentorship of an experienced scientist.
Facilities & Labs: University of Pennsylvania vivaria and laboratories
Faculty & Staff in support of the program: 10 veterinarians and faculty in the University Laboratory Animal Resources (ULAR) program
Mentoring information: Specific mentoring the veterinarians/faculty in ULAR. Additional mentoring by research sponsor.
