Epidemiology and Biostatistics

The Epidemiology and Biostatistics Section is involved both in teaching and consulting with the research staff and faculty of the Schools of Veterinary Medicine, Medicine and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP).
Currently an elective course in Intermediate Biostatistics (VCSP 631) is offered on a yearly basis at the Veterinary School. Two courses are given yearly in Study Design (BB 320/321) and an Epidemiology/Biostatistics Lecture Series for the University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine and in conjunction with the Section of Occupational Medicine. These courses involve biostatistics, clinical epidemiology, and research design.
The consulting mission with the faculty and research staff at the Schools of Veterinary Medicine, Medicine and HUP is substantial and concerns study design, statistical design and analysis, and protocol development for the submission of grant proposals for internal and extramural research.
