Dear Friend:

Through your support of Penn Vet’s Laminitis Research Fund and/or The Barbaro Fund, you are part of a critical initiative to shed light on laminitis, its causes and pathology and our best efforts to develop effective treatments to cure this dreaded condition.
For nearly two years since Barbaro’s death, scientists and clinicians at New Bolton Center have been working in the initial phases of research that will form the basis of even more rigorous work to make ground-breaking discoveries we all hope to see on laminitis.
An article in the November 8th issue of Thoroughbred Times provides an excellent update on work currently underway at New Bolton Center and in collaboration with experts nationally and internationally. It demonstrates what is possible when many people join in a concerted effort to fight a tenacious and unyielding foe. You are part of this effort, and this article shows what your support has accomplished to date.
But this battle is not over—so much still must be done, and these difficult economic times make research of this sort even more challenging to advance. So, on behalf of all horses that have endured laminitis and those yet to suffer, we ask you to consider making an additional gift to Penn Vet’s Laminitis Research Fund during this holiday season. A contribution of $50, $100, $200 or more is vital to our ability to move forward aggressively. Thank you—thank you!—for joining with us in the fight.
Sincerely,
