Governor Ed Rendell has appointed Dr. Corinne Sweeney chairwoman of the Pennsylvania Racing Commission while also naming John Hannum to the commission. Sweeney is a professor of medicine at New Bolton Center and serves as chief operating officer for the University of Pennsylvania’s George D. Widener Hospital for Large Animals.

Bull terriers Zansi and Toni headed home today a rare canine renal transplant performed by Drs. Lillian Aronson and Heidi Phillips at the Matthew J. Ryan Veterinary Hospital. Fourteen-month old Toni donated a kidney to her sister in a seven-hour operation needed to save Zansi's life.
