Information for Referring Vets about the Cardiology Service
The Cardiology Service is available for consultations Monday through Friday during normal business hours. The phone number is 215-898-8889. A voice message with prompts will allow the caller to be directed to specific voice mailboxes of the cardiology clinicians, connected to the emergency service or allow the caller to leave a general message. General messages (option #2) are checked throughout the day and every attempt is made to return calls within 24 hours. On the message, please leave the clinician and veterinary hospital names, phone number and best time for us to call back, the name of the patient, the patient’s diagnosis, and your questions.
Referrals:
The Cardiology Service schedules new appointments on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and re-examinations every week day. Returning clients can drop off their pets for the day (if this type of appointment fits into their schedule better than waiting for diagnostics to be performed on an out-patient basis) on Tuesdays. Arrangements can be made with the appointment desk (215 898 4680) for a drop off appointment. It is helpful if owners bring any diagnostic tests that have been performed on their pet with them to the appointment. If possible, a summary of the cardiovascular status (reason for referral or change in cardiovascular status since the last examination with cardiology) is very much appreciated. It is not necessary for the referring veterinarian to contact the appointment desk—clients can call them directly to make appointments.
