Calf at the Marshak Dairy
Penn Vet has a fully functioning dairy located at New Bolton Center. The Marshak Dairy's herd has approximately 200 milking cows that produce about 1500 gallons of milk a day, which is sold to Land-O-Lakes. Penn Vet students learn about cow healthcare, preventive medicine, nutrition and food safety.

Commencement
Penn Vet graduated its 126th class of veterinarians on May 16, 2011. Class president Apryle Horbal addressed 113 classmates. Judge Judith Sheindlin, animal welfare advocate and Ryan Hospital client, was the guest speaker.

Alumni Weekend
Penn Vet's Class of 1961 celebrated their 50th reunion at a reception held at New Bolton Center. A picnic and tours were held in Philadelphia, with alumni, students and staff participating in a MASH tent.

Therapy Dogs at the Science Festival
Penn Vet staff and students volunteered for the inaugural Philadelphia Science Festival. Pictured are a faculty member’s two therapy dogs who were greeting guests at a Phillies game. Penn Vet also participated in the Science Carnival held at Logan Square. Children could play vet at the MASH tent or feed treats to the therapy dogs. See more photos here>>

Marsupial Patient
A red kangaroo named Dan came to the Ryan Hospital from the Philadelphia Zoo. Here, doctors and staff from both institutions ready Dan for surgery. He had a mass in his chest which was discovered to be an abscessed lung lobe.
