Dean Joan C. Hendricks
Dr. Joan C. Hendricks, the Gilbert S. Kahn Dean of Veterinary Medicine, became the 12th dean of the school on January 1, 2006, succeeding Dr. Alan M. Kelly. She is the third female dean of a veterinary school in the U.S. Dr. Hendricks also has served on the school's faculty for more than 20 years.

Penn President Amy Gutmann was a guest speaker at the kick-off event for Making History - The Campaign for Penn held at the Penn Vet's New Bolton Center in Kennett Square, PA.

PETVETS Visitation Program
Penn Vet and the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House have developed a pet-visitation program. On a weekly basis, faculty, staff and students of the School of Veterinary Medicine bring their certified dogs to the Ronald McDonald House.

Students, graduate students, combined-degree students (VMD/PhD), postdoctoral fellows and residents have a range of research opportunities available to them in basic, translational and clinical research at Penn Vet.

Groundbreaking Ceremony
Ground has been officially broken for the state-of-the-art James M. Moran, Jr., Critical Care Center at Penn Vet’s New Bolton Center, named in memory of Mrs. Elizabeth R. Moran’s son James, who passed away in April 2008.

The Marshak Dairy at New Bolton Center is named in honor of Robert Marshak, the school’s ninth dean, whose support was instrumental in establishing the farm. Here cows exercise and graze at the dairy’s adjacent fields. |
