Research Training Opportunities

Students, graduate students, combined degree students (VMD/PhD), postdoctoral fellows, and residents have a range of research opportunities available to them in basic, translational, and clinical research at Penn Vet. In addition to the programs of research of each faculty member, trainees may attend weekly journal clubs; attend seminars of visiting scholars; and participate by presenting their own work at annual conferences on campus. The following pages will expand upon the National Institutes of Health program in collaboration with Merck; the opportunities provided by Penn’s Biomedical Postdoctoral Programs Office; Penn Vet’s combined degree program; graduate groups in the Biomedical Graduate Studies; training grant opportunities; and clinical research programs and fellowships.
Penn Vet has a unique training asset at the campus at the University of Pennsylvania housing research laboratories, state-of-the-art vivaria, and a small animal hospital while outside the city in a lovely rural setting is the large animal facility of New Bolton Center.
