Internal Medicine Areas of Expertise
The glands all over the body that make up the endocrine system affect each other by producing hormones. Biopsies, ultrasounds and several different laboratory tests are available to Ryan veterinarians to help them diagnose the many kinds of endocrine disease in pets. The Section of Medicine also operates a I 131 Service for treating hyperthyroid cats.
The Section of Medicine sees dogs and cats with disorders of the alimentary tract (esophagus, stomach and intestines), pancreas and liver. Ryan veterinarians use state-of-the-art equipment to examine different parts of the gastrointestinal tract, including fluoroscopy, ultrasound and endoscopy.
The Section of Medicine treats companion animals with problems associated with the kidney and urinary tract and is currently using state-of- the-art minimally invasive techniques for some of these conditions.
