Dr. Elizabeth Davidson, Associate Professor in Sport Medicine and Imaging, is a board certified surgeon. Her expertise includes sport horse lameness, prepurchase examinations, and treadmill evaluations. She earned her veterinary degree from Michigan State University, internship at Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital, and residency at New Bolton Center. Outside of work she enjoys riding and spending time with her husband and 2 boys.

Ms. Carole Johnson, Supervisor of Sports Medicine and Imaging, started her long career at New Bolton Center as a radiologic technologist in 1980 after receiving her certificate in Radiological Technology from Coatesville Hospital. In 1986 she was promoted to chief technologist in Radiology and currently oversees all the day-to-day operations of imaging and sports medicine. Outside of work she enjoys spending lots of time with her husband, her beautiful daughter and her horse.

Ms. Katie Minacci has been a Sports Medicine and Imaging Technician for 5 ½ years with expertise in the Equine Performance Clinic and the Jeffords High Speed Treadmill facility. She earned a B.S. in Animal Sciences with a minor in Equine Studies from Pennsylvania State University. She loves to ride and spend time with her husband and daughter.

Ms. Gloria Ballinger, Sports Medicine and Imaging Technician for 2 years, works primarily in Ultrasound and Cardiology. She has worked at New Bolton Center for 15 years since 1979. She is a 1980 graduate of the Animal Technician Program at Harcum College and is licensed in Pennsylvania. Outside of work, Gloria is a soprano soloist and lay leader at her place of worship.

Ms. Jan Ramberger has been a Sports Medicine and Imaging Technician since 1988 with her areas of expertise in Radiology and MRI. She earned her certificate in Radiology from Duke University and a B.S. in Hospital Administration from Quinnipiac University. Outside of work she enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends on their boat on the Chesapeake Bay.

Ms. Vivian Stacy, Sports Medicine and Imaging Technician for 19 years in Nuclear Medicine. She attended Delaware Technical Community College and is a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT). She is also a talented gardener having earned a Certificate of Merit in Ornamental Horticulture from Longwood and is a Master Gardener volunteer for the University of Maryland Extension system.

Dr. Laura Faulkner is a Fellow in Large Animal Ultrasound and Cardiology. She has a B.A. in Political Science from Stanford University, CA and graduated from University of Pennsylvania’s Veterinary School in 2011. Outside of work she enjoys and competes in the jumpers divisions with her horse, Elvis.

Dr. Ben Martin, Director of the Jeffords High Speed Treadmill Facility, Associate Professor in Sports Medicine and Imaging, is a board certified surgeon. His expertise includes exercising treadmill evaluation, lameness, and acupuncture. He has worked at Thoroughbred sales and Claiborne farm in Paris, KY. He has also played polo, started yearlings, and competed in the show ring. He enjoys traveling and manning the barbeque.

Ms. Joanne Mitchell is our Sport Medicine and Imaging secretary and has worked at New Bolton Center for 26 years! She has a B.S. in Community and Family Services from the University of Delaware. In her “free” time Joanne enjoys baking, gardening, reading and doing jigsaw puzzles.

Dr. Virginia Reef came to New Bolton Center in July 1979. She is currently the Lila Griswold and Mark Whittier Allam Professor of Medicine; Head of Large Animal Cardiology & Ultrasonography; Chief of Sports Medicine and Imaging. Her training includes DVM, The Ohio State University; Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at New Bolton Center; Diplomate ACVIM, ACVSMR, Associate member ECVDI. Outside of work she enjoys travel, theater, gardening, and cooking.

Dr. JoAnn “Jo” Slack, Assistant Professor in Large Animal Cardiology and Ultrasound, is a board certified large animal internist. Her veterinary training, Master’s degree, and residency were performed at the University of Wisconsin. She also completed an Ultrasound Fellowship at New Bolton Center. When not at work, she enjoys road and mountain bike riding.

Ms. Jane Tyrie, Sports Medicine and Imaging technician for 7 years, primarily in Nuclear Medicine and Radiology. She is a past president of the American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians. She has managed a large show barn, competed hunters, and worked in a sport horse veterinary practice. She keeps busy judging local horse shows and supporting 4-H.
