The Section of Reproduction at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, New Bolton Center, provides comprehensive reproductive care for horses, cattle, sheep, swine, goats, and llamas. Our staff of Hofmann Center Signclinicians has over 50 years of combined experience, and our faculty all are board certified by the American College of Theriogenologists. Based at The Georgia and Philip Hofmann Research Center for Animal Reproduction since 1970, we combine years of clinical experience with the latest research and technology. The Section of Reproduction serves reproductive needs from basic to advanced, from natural breeding to assisted reproductive techniques.

Students at the School of Veterinary Medicine are an integral part of the Section of Reproduction. We maintain a herd of teaching mares and cows, as well as teaching Buddy and Dinkusstallions and bulls. Students get extensive hands on experience in palpation, ultrasound, semen collection, insemination and other techniques. Students who choose a clinical rotation in reproduction work alongside clinicians to see a variety of clinical cases that challenge their diagnostic skills. Additionally students work with our teaching animals to hone their technical skills.

This website is designed to help the general public, veterinarians, those in the animal industry, and students see what goes on in the Section of Reproduction at The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. We hope this site helps to answer any questions you might have. We thank you for taking the time to visit!
