Summer Research Training Program Application

Instructions

Thank you for your interest in the NIH/Boehringer Ingelheim Summer Research Fellowships. Please read the following instructions carefully.

University of Pennsylvania Applicants

Please submit the following:

  • Completed application package (online)
  • Transcripts, unofficial, from each institution you’ve attended, including Penn Vet (pdf files no larger than 2MB)
  • Download and complete the Faculty Sponsor Recommendation/Commitment Form (PDF)
  • Research Proposal (pdf file)
  • NOTE: All supplemental items should be in pdf file. Please bundle all the items together if possible and make it as few files as possible not to exceed 3MB. Also make sure your name is on the proposal and the faculty sponsor form. It should be in the following order 1. Research Proposal 2. Faculty Sponsor Form 3. UPENN Unofficial Vet Transcript 4. Other transcripts.

 Outside Applicants

Please submit the following:

  • Completed application package (online)
  • Official transcripts from each institution you’ve attended, including current veterinary school transcripts (pdf file, no jpeg)
  • Copy of GRE scores (photocopies acceptable)
  • Download and complete the Faculty Sponsor Recommendation/Commitment Form (PDF)
  • Research Proposal (pdf file)
  • NOTE: All supplemental items should be in pdf file. Please bundle all the items together if possible and make it as few files as possible not to exceed 3MB. Applicant's Background Information

Please include: a) Title, Student's name, Mentor's name, Mentor's Department b) Objective c) Overall Approach d) Budget e) Animal Care Committee approval, if animals are used. The budget is requested to assure that the mentor is aware of the costs necessary for completion of the work.
