Summer VETS

SUMMER 2021 Information

Unfortunately, due to the uncertainty regarding COVID-19 and what access will be allowed in regards to visitors at Penn Vet, the VETS program has been canceled for the Summer 2021.

We are committed to picking up the VETS program in Summer 2022 and information on that will be posted here in Mid January 2022.

Thank you

If you’ve ever dreamed about being a veterinarian, or even just wondered about what such a career would be like, our Penn Vet's Veterinary Exploration Through Science (VETS) — also known as Summer VETS — is the program for you.

Summer VETS is designed for college students who are interested in veterinary medicine and want to learn more.  It takes you into the world of our VMD students, experiencing what it’s like to be one of them.

What Summer VETS Offers

Summer VETS students at Marshak DairyNow entering its 10th year, this day program runs in three week-long sessions geared towards college students. Here are some examples of what you'll get to experience:

  • Gain hands-on, clinical experience working with animals, while also learning about scientific discovery and public health.
  • Shadow fourth-year Penn Vet students at Penn Vet's Ryan Veterinary Hospital, the School’s famous companion animal hospital, as they work with their patients.
  • Visit our 700-acre large animal facility in Kennett Square, PA, New Bolton Center, where you’ll tour Marshak Dairy and New Bolton Center Hospital for Large Animals, and see our exciting, robotic imaging system.
  • Study with some of Penn Vet’s renowned faculty, attending labs in pathology, microbiology and anatomy and lectures on such subjects as public health, working dogs, and parasitology.
  • Take part in a spirited panel discussion in which current vet students will give you their valuable perspective on Penn Vet student life.

Program participants will also have the chance to meet with the Admissions Office staff who coordinate Summer VETS.  Individual meetings with admissions representatives can also be arranged.
