My interest is in dinosaur paleobiology and faunas of the world. Projects with worldwide scope at present include the Early Late Cretaceous dinosaur fauna of Bahariya Oasis, Egypt, and a fauna of similar age from Chubut Province, Patagonia, Argentina. We have collected at both of these sites in 2000. A National Science Foundation Grant is pending for the former; the latter is currently supported by the National Geographic Society.
Excavation at a third site, supported by the University of Pennsylvania Research Foundation is more regional in scope. This is an exploration of a fauna of Late Jurassic age from the Morrison Formation of southern Montana.
Our fauna, which so far includes two sauropods (long-necked plant-eaters) and one theropod (meat-eater) contains either rare or new elements consistent with the position of the fauna within the base of the Morrison Formation. Other work in my lab includes a consideration of growth trajectories and indices of skeletal maturation in dinosaurs and living reptiles and birds. |
