Faculty and staff
At any given time, there are close to 100 veterinarians working at Ryan Veterinary Hospital. These specialists deliver many different kinds of sophisticated veterinary treatments such as cataract surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, orthopedic surgery, dental treatment, and transfusion therapy in addition to providing routine medical and diagnostic services.
The hospital has both a large nursing staff (certified animal health technicians) and student nurses from Harcum Junior College. Many of our nurses have specialized training in such areas as anesthesia, fluid therapy, intensive care, internal medicine, oncology, orthopedics, and radiology. They carry out prescribed tests, administer treatments and monitor patients closely. Nurse practitioners perform follow-up tests, freeing clinicians for other patients.
At any time about 40 senior veterinary students rotate through the clinics and services at Ryan, gaining clinical experience under the supervision of faculty clinicians. The hospital has an extensive internship and residency program, attracting some of the best and brightest young veterinarians from schools around the world.
A social worker is on staff to counsel clients with seriously ill animals and to provide support to those who have a terminally ill pet.
