Dr. Mary Utter provides ophthalmology services both by appointment and on an emergency basis at New Bolton. As a service, her team is able to provide ophthalmic examination, hospitalization, diagnostics (including slit lamp biomicroscopy, tonometry, ophthalmoscopy, ocular ultrasound, electroretinography) and surgical intervention including lid, conjunctival, corneal surgery. Cataract surgery will be offered soon.

Dr. Mary E. Utter received her DVM from Michigan State University in 2000, completed an internship at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital, Lexington, Kentucky in 2001, and an ophthalmology residency at University of Florida in 2004. Prior to her veterinary training, she completed a PhD in cognitive psychology at University of Michigan (in 1994). Dr. Utter worked in private ophthalmology practice (in Dallas, TX and Fairfield County, CT) for two years prior to joining the faculty at New Bolton.
