Summer 2015 Applicants: Update
For all Summer 2015 applicants, we expect to have decisions e-mailed early next week (April 20th, 21st, 22nd). We apologize of the delay, however we had a large number of applications to review.
All aspects of the application will be considered. However, much emphasis will be placed on grades and demonstrated pursuit of veterinary medicine as a career. This program is highly competitive and decisions will be made upon review of all applications received by the deadline.
Submission of Required Materials
All required materials must be mailed to the Admissions Office and included in one envelope, with the exception of high school transcripts which can be sent directly if required by the high school (we will accept high school transcripts with the application if in a sealed envelope). Please write a one-page typed essay and explain why you want to participate in PennVet’s Veterinary Exploration Through Science program (VETS). We want to learn about your interests in science, medicine and veterinary experiences you may have had and why a career in veterinary medicine is a good match for you. Be certain to include your name at the top of the page.
Resume/Curriculum Vitae (CV)
We require that each applicant provide us with a resume that outlines education, vet and animal experience, extracurricular activities, interests, hobbies, etc.
Two evaluation letters are required and should be included in the one envelope being mailed to us. The letters should be in their original sealed envelopes from your evaluators. One letter must be written by a science teacher or science faculty, advisor or guidance counselor. The second letter should be written by a veterinarian or someone who can comment on your interest in veterinary medicine.
Please include the $40.00 non-refundable application fee with your application. This may be in the form of a personal check, money order or cashier’s check made payable to the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania. This fee must accompany your application. Applications will not be considered without it.
All fees must be in US Dollars and international applicants must use a Bank Check/Money Order in US Dollars. Personal checks from international applicants will not be accepted.
