Summer VETS Application Information

Application Deadline

VETS will be offered over two separate weeks in Summer 2020: 

  • June 15th - 19th, 2020
  • July 13th - 17th, 2020

The application and all supportive documents must be received by the deadline in order for an application to be reviewed. 

Application Deadline: March 31, 2020

Decisions will be made and applicants will be notified of their status in mid/late April. Applications received after the deadline may be considered on a rolling basis if all spaces have not been filled.

Checklist of Required Documents

Please submit the following materials online:

  • Please apply online. Make sure to complete your essay and select the weeks you are available to attend in order of preference (do not include weeks you can't attend).  The essay should include your interest in science, veterinary medicine and specific experiences that have impacted your desire to pursue the profession. 

 Send the following items by mail in one envelope:

  • College (and High School transcripts if currently college freshman) in their original sealed envelopes (high school transcripts mailed separately if required by the specific school).
  • Resume or curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Two (2) evaluation letters in their original sealed envelopes (1 from Science Faculty or Science Academic Advisor, 1 from a Veterinarian)
  • Non-refundable application fee of $40 (USD) by check or money order made payable to Trustees of University of Pennsylvania.  (All fees must be in US Dollars and international applicants must use a Bank Check/Money Order in US Dollars.  Returned checks will assessed a $30.00 fee on top of the application fee.  Personal checks from international applicants will not be accepted.)

Submission of Required Materials

All required materials must be mailed to the Admissions Office and included in one envelope, with the exception of high school transcripts which can be sent directly if required by the high school (we will accept high school transcripts with the application if in a sealed envelope). Admissions Decisions

All aspects of the application will be considered. This program is highly competitive and emphasis will be placed on grades and demonstrated pursuit of veterinary medicine as a career.  Decisions will be made upon review of all applications received by the deadline.
