Penn Science Policy Diplomacy Group (PSPDG) is hosting an engaging panel on One Health and its intersection with science diplomacy on April 9th at 5:00 PM in Hill Pavilion, Room 131. This discussion will bring together experts working across the human, animal, and environmental interface to examine how cross-border collaboration can strengthen global health efforts, with a focus on Latin America and the Caribbean.

Panelists:

Dr. Blair Hedges is a leading evolutionary biologist and biodiversity expert and is internationally recognized for his work on species discovery and conservation, particularly in the Caribbean. He is a co-founder of the Haiti Trust Fund, an NGO whose mission is to “save and protect the environment and biodiversity of Haiti for future generations”.

Dr. Ricardo Castillo works on the development and application of innovative epidemiological methods to understand, control, and eliminate infectious diseases. He conducts research on zoonotic diseases in Latin America where he partners with public health authorities to respond to urban disease outbreaks and prevent zoonoses from re-emerging.

Dr. Neha Pondicherry is a physician active in advocacy efforts and has worked on capacity-building for LMICs with SaveTheChildren. During medical school, she also earned an MPH in Global Health from Harvard, where she continued her interest in climate change and its impact on marginalized communities in resource limited areas.

Following the moderated panel, attendees are free to mix and mingle with the speakers at a catered reception (El Merkury) that will begin at 6:00pm outside of Hill 131.

Students and staff from all disciplines are welcome and encouraged to attend!
