Bio: I am a microbiologist with a longstanding interest in the biology of kinetoplastids, protozoan parasites that cause neglected diseases in humans and animals. My goal is to elucidate basic mechanisms of disease through the study of parasite cell biology. To harness genome, transcriptome and proteome data we developed CRISPR/Cas9 editing tools for kinetoplastids, which allow for rapid and precise modification of individual genes as well as large scale loss-of-function screens.
