The 2018 Penn Vet Working Dog Conference is a 4-day educational event that strives to advance the health and performance of our nation’s working dogs through sharing of cutting edge scientific discoveries and applied techniques. Attendees include veterinarians and technicians, trainers, handlers, breeders, and scientists. Registration is limited to 250 attendees to maintain the collaborative and open environment for which the Penn Vet Working Dog Conference is known.
This year’s theme Creating the Working Dog: Puppy to Professional will be addressed with a series of four (4) - ½ day sessions targeting:
1. Breeding to Weaning: Getting Off to a Good Start
2. Job Specific Training (8 weeks-18 months): Preparing for Success
3. Foundation Skills Training (8 weeks-18 months): Building a Well-Rounded Dog
4. Career Selection and Candidate Screening: Picking the Right Dog for the Job
We will also be offering break out sessions to provide hands on experience and explore certain topics in more depth.
Attendees will also get the chance to tour the Working Dog Center and see demonstrations from dogs at various levels in our training program.
