Bio: Tobi studied Biology in Basel, Switzerland and conducted his PhD in Malaria Cell Biology at the Swiss Tropical Institute (today SwissTPH) in Basel in the laboratory of Prof. Hans-Peter Beck. Thereafter he joined the group of Prof. Dave Kemp at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research in Brisbane, Australia where he worked as a postdoctoral fellow. With an Alexander von Humboldt fellowship he returned to Europe, first working as a post doc in Prof. Tim Gilberger’s lab at the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNITM) in Hamburg, Germany and later with his own research group at the BNITM. His laboratory focusses on studying the cell biology of P. falciparum blood stage parasites.
