2023 Commencement

2024 Commencement Exercises

The Penn Vet Class of 2024 will be celebrating their Commencement on Monday, May 20, 2024 at 2:30 PM (EST).

The Ceremony will be held in the Zellerbach Theatre of the Annenberg Center. Additional details about the University’s Commencement can be found on their Commencement page.

2024 Commencement Speaker

Amanda Bisol, VMD, will deliver the address at the 2024 University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine (Penn Vet) Commencement to be held on Monday, May 20, 2024.

A general practice veterinarian from rural Maine, Bisol is a staunch leader within the veterinary community. A 2011 Penn Vet graduate, Bisol embarked on a journey marked by a commitment to the well-being of animals and the advancement of the veterinary profession. Over the course of a decade, Bisol practiced veterinary medicine at the Animal Medical Clinic in Skowhegan, Maine, where she served as part-owner for six years. In 2019, driven by a desire to become a more formidable advocate for fellow veterinarians and the profession, Bisol entered the University of Maine’s School of Law to pursue her Juris Doctor degree. Amidst her legal studies, Bisol continues to serve her community as a part-time practitioner at the Animal Medical Clinic, maintaining a balance between clinical practice and continued education.

She is a 2017 recipient of the MVMA’s Service Award for her efforts in lobbying, rulemaking, and advancing continuing education on veterinarians' involvement in Maine’s Prescription Drug Monitoring Program. She received the award again in 2023 for her volunteer efforts and continued advocacy for veterinarians in Maine and across the country. Bisol also served as alternate delegate and delegate for the American Veterinary Medical Association’s (AVMA) House of Delegates; and in 2019 she was elected to the AVMA’s House Advisory Committee. In 2022, she was elected to the AVMA Board of Directors representing District 1 for a six-year term.

In addition to her Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris (VMD), Dr. Bisol holds a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology and a double major in Professional Writing from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
