Dr. David G. Levine Awarded DACVSMR

Dr. David Levine and student evaluate a patient [March 6, 2018; Kennett Square, PA] – Penn Vet New Bolton Center’s Dr. David Levine, assistant professor of clinical large animal surgery, has been awarded the Diplomate status in Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation through the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (ACVSMR).

This is Levine’s second board certification. In 2010, he was awarded Diplomate status in Large Animal Surgery through the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.

The College of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation became an approved specialty in 2010 to meet the unique needs of athletic and working animals. New Bolton Center, with four board-certified clinicians in sports medicine, also has an active residency in this new specialty.

“I look forward to continuing to support our outstanding sports medicine program here at New Bolton Center and continuing to improve our abilities in diagnosis and management of disease in our equine athletes,” said Levine.

New Bolton Center’s multidisciplinary team of internists, surgeons, sports medicine and rehabilitation specialists, imaging technicians, in partnership with an internationally renowned farrier, offer an array of comprehensive services including:

Clinical evaluation of lameness
Rehabilitation of horses following an injury
Purchase examinations
Poor performance examinations

New Bolton Center has more than 30 veterinarians who are board-certified, and eight clinicians who are dually-certified in more than one specialty. These board-certified clinicians represent 10 American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)-approved specialties, including large animal surgery, internal medicine, neurology, ophthalmology, emergency & critical care, and sports medicine & rehabilitation.
