Transferring to Penn Vet

Transferring to Penn Vet

Penn Vet considers transfer students on an individual basis for entry in September of their second year.  The number of available slots is limited and cannot be known before mid-summer. 

Requirements for Transfer Admission
  • A minimum GPA of 3.00 without having repeated a course.
  • Penn Vet prerequisite course requirements completed with a "C" or above.
  • All major course work required by first-year students at Penn Vet must have been completed prior to matriculation. (Missing material must be made up during the second academic year.)
Required Application Materials
  • Transcripts from all previously attended institutions
  • GRE scores
  • A letter of intent describing the applicant’s reasons for wanting to transfer to Penn Vet
  • A copy of a previous VMCAS application or application to the applicant’s current veterinary school
  • A letter from the Dean or Associate Dean of your home institution indicating that the applicant is in good social and academic standing

About Application Materials

Application materials must be received by April 1.  

  • Applicants should include an email address to facilitate communication.
  • Those finishing their first terms in April, should have their transcripts sent in as soon as possible.
  • Other applicants should send transcripts of previous terms.

  • Interviews are required. 
  • These are held online, using Skype or Zoom, between May and July of each year.
