    Paolo Silvestrini, DVM, PhD, DECVIM


    Paolo graduated from the University of Perugia, Italy, in 2002. He spent the following three years in private practice in Rome. In 2007, he gained the Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine certificate from the University of Pisa, Italy. He then completed an 18-month official rotating internship at the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona, in Spain, followed by a 3-year residency in Internal Medicine at the same University. During the first year of his residency, he obtained a Master’s Degree. In September 2012 Paolo successfully passed the final exam for the ECVIM-CA board and became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and Recognized European Veterinary Specialist. In 2015 he was awarded the RCVS Recognized Specialist status. In 2016 he completed a PhD research project about new clinico-pathological aspects of canine leishmaniasis. From 2013 to 2021, he has been employed as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom. Since October 2021, he is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Interventional Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania, USA. Paolo is particularly interested in infectious diseases (vector-borne diseases in particular) and minimally invasive procedures for respiratory and urinary systems.
