Puppies in our program are donated from breeders across the country. These dogs must exemplify health and performance capabilities. The puppies will be trained at our center from the time they arrive at 8 weeks of age to approximately one year of age. They will graduate with the skills required for them to move directly into careers or undertake advanced training.
Our dogs benefit from the daily training, environmental exposure, family life and careful monitoring of their health and physical fitness. The foundation program develops the innate skills and abilities of each individual dog to promote their success in the detection field that best suits them.
All activities and training are monitored closely and documented to allow us to bring a scientific basis to the training of our nation’s detection canines. Each of our dogs will live with a foster family and receive excellent veterinary care through the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine for the duration of their time in our program. All dogs will be tracked throughout their career.
