Dr. Mariana Crumley to Discuss Equine General Anesthesia During Free First Tuesday Lecture Presented by Penn Vet’s New Bolton Center

[May 15, 2013; Philadelphia, PA] – On Tuesday, June 4 at 6:30pm, Mariana Crumley, DVM, will present a special lecture, Down for the Count: The Science and Art of General Anesthesia in Horses, as part of the First Tuesday Lecture Series at Penn Vet’s New Bolton Center in Kennett Square, PA. The series offers free lectures to the public on equine topics the first Tuesday of the month. The lectures take place in New Bolton Center’s Alumni Hall. Due to limited seating, reservations are recommended and can be made at beltb@vet.upenn.edu.

Dr. Crumley will discuss the details of equine general anesthesia, including the basic components of anesthesia, the goals when anesthetizing a horse, how to ensure a horse is pain free during anesthesia, and the necessary steps to protect the safety of both patients and personnel. In addition, Dr. Crumley will share information about equine general anesthesia at Penn Vet’s New Bolton Center, highlighting the advanced techniques performed by Penn Vet’s team of leading clinicians and the state-of-the-art equipment and facilities available to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.

During the First Tuesday Lecture Series, faculty and clinicians at New Bolton Center share current information on topics of interest and relevance to horse owners and caregivers throughout the region. The series will be on hiatus in July and August, but will resume the first Tuesday of September.
