VMD | Master in Business
The combined VMD | MBA training program can prepare students to apply business principles not only to advancing veterinary profession, but also to apply business principles to One Health related global challenges. These challenges can include enhancing food security, protecting life from future pandemics, and addressing the effects of climate change on the health of humans, animals, and the environment.
Why Combine a VMD With a Master of Business Administration?
Veterinarians trained in the law gain a solid understanding of the US Legal framework and are uniquely positioned to lead and respond to policies and threats such as food supply challenges, bioterrorism and pandemic-related issues. The combined VMD | MBA training program can prepare students to apply business principles not only to advancing veterinary profession, but also to apply business principles to One Health related global challenges: enhancing food security, protecting life from future pandemics, and addressing the effects of climate change on the health of humans, animals and the environment.
The program brings together researchers from multiple academic disciplines from across the University of Pennsylvania.

Application Details
- Current students interested in the dual degree option will be required to articulate their interests and career aspirations in a separate essay and interview that will be evaluated in conjunction with all application material provided to Penn Vet, by the Dual Degree Admissions Committee.
- Next VMD | MBA dual degree applicants must then separately apply and be accepted into the MBA program. Ideal applicants will have a strong academic record and clear vision for how to integrate MBA and VMD training into their future career.
