The family’s Dutch Shepherd, Amber, who passed away in 2024, participated in classes at PVWDC and met Dr. Otto. As a tribute to both Amber and Dr. Otto, the family chose to name the new puppy Otto.

Legacy: Preti is named in honor of Dr. George Preti. Dr. Preti was an innovative chemist working at the Monell Center. He spent 50 years studying human body odor, but he was always interested in dogs. He was instrumental in the multidisciplinary collaboration between the Penn Vet Working Dog Center, physicist Dr. Charlie Johnson, oncologist Dr. Janos Tanyi, and innovator and ophthalmologist Dr. Jody Piltz-Seymour who worked together to explore early-stage ovarian cancer detection using odor biomarkers in blood.
