Claire Underwood, VetMB, PhD
Dr. Underwood is an assistant professor in large animal diagnostic imaging with a focus in ultrasound and cardiology. After graduating from Cambridge University in 2006 she undertook a surgery internship at the University of Pennsylvania’s New Bolton Center, followed by two years in Dr Virginia Reef’s ultrasound and cardiology fellowship. In 2010 she joined the University of Queensland, Australia, where she completed a PhD and provided the ultrasound and cardiology service in their equine hospital. She returned to Penn Vet’s New Bolton Center in 2017. In addition to clinical service, her current research interests include investigating temporary cardiac pacing, novel methods in musculoskeletal and cardiac ultrasound and telehealth.
