Lisa Murphy, VMD serves as the Resident Director of the Pennsylvania Animal Diagnostic Laboratory System (PADLS) at New Bolton Center, the Section Head for the Toxicology Laboratory, and the director of Penn Vet’s new Pennsylvania Wildlife Futures Program. The Toxicology Laboratory offers comprehensive veterinary diagnostic toxicology services to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. These services include a wide range of analyses for both natural and man-made toxicants, such as mycotoxins, drugs, environmental contaminants, insecticides, rodenticides, anions, and metals, performed on various sample matrices. Additionally, the laboratory conducts analyses for nutritionally relevant compounds, including metals like selenium, copper, and zinc, as well as vitamin E in animal samples. The laboratory also provides case consultations, assists in field investigations of potential toxicoses, and maintains an active method development program for new or emerging toxicants, markers of nutritional status, and chemical food contaminants.
