My research focuses on two major approaches critical to understand and mitigate the spread of antibiotic resistant bacteria in companion animals.
(1) To characterize the clinical and molecular epidemiology of extensively drug resistant bacteria (i.e. carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae) of dogs and cats.
(2) To establish best educational practices in antimicrobial stewardship to promote proper use of these critical drugs.
