    Medical Genetics & Pediatrics

    What we do

Medical Genetics focuses on the study of hereditary diseases of companion animals to better understand the disease processes, and to develop new treatments.

Our medical geneticists evaluate companion animals of all ages with suspected or confirmed genetic diseases. If we diagnose a genetic disorder in your pet, our veterinarians will offer you the best management options for your situation.

Our pediatricians are here to provide your puppy or kitten with all of the preventive programs, such as vaccinations, parasite control, nutritional advice, and other counseling, so that your pet gets off to a great start in life.

    Medical Genetics

Our medical geneticists are dedicated to understanding and diagnosing inherited predispositions and diseases in pediatric and adult companion animals. This allows us to counsel on potential treatment options and optimal breeding decisions. Through PennGen and its Diagnostic Services, we offer both metabolic screening and whole genome sequencing to diagnose suspected genetic diseases.

    Small Animal Pediatrics

Our pediatricians not only provide preventive health care such as vaccinations, but can also diagnose and treat disorders that are unique to puppies and kittens. Fading puppy or kitten syndrome? Growth abnormalities? Or just not doing well? Please see our pediatricians right away. For routine care, such as vaccinations and preventative care, please see our Primary Care Service.
