2024 Martin and Pamela Winter Infectious Disease Pre-Doctoral Fellowship
The Institute for Infectious and Zoonotic Diseases (IIZD) is offering fellowships for pre-doctoral students keen on exploring infectious diseases in humans and wildlife. The fellowships span one to two years, contingent on progress and ongoing funding availability, providing financial support of $35,000 per year. The sponsor laboratory is expected to provide the additional funds required to support the applicant. The application deadline is March 1, 2024.
Qualifications:
- University of Pennsylvania student enrolled in a doctoral degree program in the biomedical sciences.
- International students enrolled in graduate programs in other countries or U.S. institutions with written permission to interrupt their current schooling and return within one year of completing their degree-granting program.
- Candidates from low- or middle-income countries (LMIC) or U.S. underrepresented minorities are encouraged to apply. Participation is contingent upon applicable immigration rules and regulations.

JAVMA & AJVR Digital Back Issues From the 1990s Now Available
Thanks to a collaboration among the AVMA and veterinary libraries (including Penn Vet), past issues of both JAVMA and AJVR are being digitized. Readers can now view all issues from the 1990s on the journals' websites. AVMA will continue to digitize issues from the 1980s and 1970s as the year progresses, and will load that content by decade as it is completed.

New Interactive Virtual Anatomy Resource: Biosphera
Interactive models explore animal anatomy through fully virtual dissections, with layers for the different body systems (skin, muscle, skeleton, respiratory, circulatory, nervous, digestive, urogenital, lymphatic, and endocrine). Penn Libraries subscribes to ten modules: bird, bovine, cat, dog, horse, pig, rat, fish, frog and frog skeleton. Here's a feature preview.
