Here are the clinical sections that comprise the academic specialties in the Department of Clinical Sciences & Advanced Medicine. Each of these sections are made up of standing and clinical faculty as well as researchers who specialize in a wide array of veterinary study and practice.

Behavior Medicine at Ryan Hospital is dedicated to helping pets and their owners live together comfortably and safely.
The interactions and relationships between humans and animals has long been an area of great interest. Penn Vet’s Center for the Interaction of Animals and Society strives to promote understanding of human-animal interactions across a wide range of contexts. Beginning in May 2013, the School of Veterinary Medicine began offering a rotation to include primary care services. This rotation serves as a core curriculum requirement for all small and mixed animal majors and is offered as an elective for all other majors.
The Shelter Medicine and Community Engagement Program approaches the growing shelter crisis from a sociological, economic, and cultural perspective that allows for examination of the human-animal bond and link between human and animal health.
