Explanation of Results
Genotype Phenotype Interpretation
2-2 (Homozygous Disease-Associated Markers) Probable Affected (JDCM) 2-2 (Probable Affected) dogs are expected to develop JDCM. Due to the inherent nature of linked marker tests, there is a small chance that a pattern 2-2 dog is actually a carrier, and an even smaller chance that the dog is normal.
1-2 (Heterozygous) Probable Carrier (Healthy) 1-2 (Probable Carrier) dogs are not expected to develop JDCM, and are predicted to be carriers of JDCM. Due to the inherent nature of linked marker tests, there is a slight chance that a 1-2 dog is either normal (not a carrier), or will develop JDCM.
1-1 (Homozygous Normal Markers) Probable Normal (Healthy) 1-1 (Probable Normal) dogs are not expected to develop JDCM, nor are they expected to pass a JDCM-causing allele to their offspring. Due to the inherent nature of linked marker tests, there is a slight chance that a pattern 1-1 dog is a carrier of JDCM and an even smaller chance that a pattern 1-1 dog is affected.
